On October 27-28th, the OdCNP Director Polina Sinovets took part in the Carnegie International Nuclear Policy Conference, where "the most pressing challenges in nuclear nonproliferation, arms control, disarmament, deterrence, energy, and security" are being discussed annually. This year's conference was profoundly dedicated to the current nuclear threats made by Russia in the ongoing war in Ukraine and discussed the possibility of nuclear escalation in the coming future.

Dr. Sinovets took part in the session "Can the Russo-Ukrainian War End Without Nuclear Use?" together with other experts from the field.
As part of this year's International Nuclear Policy Conference, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace also convened the Young Professionals Track (YPT) on the eve of the conference. The YPT is designed for young professionals and scholars who aim to develop themselves in the field and want to have a chance to be engaged in the nuclear debate. As this approach highly appeals to OdCNP's values, Dr. Sinovets shared her views and took part in the discussion as the speaker during the session "Talking in Tandem: U.S. Extended Deterrence in Asia and Europe."
Carnegie International Nuclear Policy Conference turned out to be a valuable resource of new knowledge, ideas, and fruitful debates and a unique possibility to establish new professional ties in the field and strengthen the existing ones. The Odessa Centre for Nonproliferation expresses its gratitude to Carnegie Endowment for International Peace for inviting our Director, Polina Sinovets as a speaker and letting Ukrainian experts be heard.
